The new job is well underway. If I've learned one thing in the last few weeks, it's that heroin addicts are surly and have bad manners. The shifts are very, very long with five hours allocated for sleep, which means do too much in the day prior to your shift and you'll not make it to bedtime, and even if you sleep for the full five hours (about as likely as that dream I had about Nigella Lawson ever coming true - the human body just isn't designed for that kind of thing...) you'll still be too knackered when you get home to be able to manage much activity,. so effectively I'm doing two day's worth of hours in a two day period, only I do mine during the time when everyone I know is not at work, and spend the rest of my time kicking my heels and talking to the penguin.
I did get one of these though:
...and my Zen jukebox is heading back for repair, though I need it for our East European winter adventures with some of our touring possee in a fortnight, first. There's a computer merry-go-round in the offing so I'll have sufficient parts for a new box or two shortly. Not sure how it'll all go together but I'll be holding off on hooking the wifi up from my Kubuntu test box untill I decide whether to wipe XP from the incoming hard drives.
In exactly two weeks, my twenties will cease to be the current decade of my life. I wish it would come sooner, I'm knackered already.
